Bobo Social: Gourmet burgers in Fitzrovia

If you haven’t guessed by now, Scott loves burgers. In our bid to find the best burger in town we tried Bobo Social one Friday night. We came by this place by pure accident and we’re so glad we did.

Bobo Social are nestled on Charlotte Street and have been around for a while now. They’ve been marking their territory in the booming burger marketing ever since their doors opened back in 2014. They pride themselves on creating a ‘BOurgeois BOhemian’ atmosphere and using all British ingredients. It’s feels rather elegant in the décor but also whimsical as the chips  are served in china tea cups.

The food was flawless. My only complaint is that there wasn’t more of it! We kicked things off with salt and pepper crispy squid which was served with fresh chillies and a lemon aoili, before moving on to some sesame chicken bites with came with a spicy tomato salsa. Cocktails seems to be a big sale here, but Scott and I both went for the Buxton pale ale – my parents would be proud seeming as they’re in the Peak District more then ever these days.

Moving on to our mains I played it safe and ordered The Bellissimo and Scott dared with The Peanut Butter. Both our burgers were served in a buttermilk bun and their signature B was branded into the top. My burger was topped with mozzeralla, salsa, pine nuts and a basil pesto (and as well as the BoBo set – lettuce, tomato, red onions and burger sauce). Scott raved about the flavour combo of his dish and is already counting down the days until we go back. Both patties were tender and juicy, just the way we like it.

Their sweet potato and beef dripping chips were excellent – though I’m always miffed when you have to order chips as extras. I’m a firm believer that these should be served with your burger.

Sadly, we didn’t leave any room for desert but the couple next to us ordered their desert burger. It’s a nutella patty served with a meringue fried egg and fruit. I can’t wait to get my hands on this when we go back. The neighbourhood is definitely a hotspot for great restaurants, and the food, service and atmosphere here was pretty perfect.
