Good steak in London can cost a fair bit of money, but at Flat Iron you can get a generous serving for just £10!
It’s a very popular, small, no-reservations restaurants – so queuing is inevitable. It’s originally a Shoreditch pop up and you can really tell this from the décor. It’s rustic and basic, with bare brick walls, but also welcoming and homely. They’ve got 3 restaurants now in total, and Scott and I visited their branch near Tottenham Court Road.
If steak isn’t your thing, don’t bother going as it’s the only thing on the menu. You can have it cooked to your liking (but they suggest medium rare) and it comes with a little dressed side salad. You simply just need to choose any other sides or sauces you desire.
They don’t do starters but when you’re seated they will bring you a small pot of complimentary popcorn.
Last week, their special was a burger which Scott went for (have I mentioned his love for burgers?) and I stuck to the steak. It was cooked to perfection and was served on a chopping board with a mini-cleaver. The bearnaise sauce went wonderfully with the dish and I also got a side of beef dripping chips.
I totally understand the appeal of this place and at these prices, there can be no complaints.
