Best Places for Pizza in London

Nothing can beat that crispy crust, covered in savoury tomato sauce, concealed under a mountain of melty, gooey cheese – it’s one of the world’s favourites foods, of course, it’s pizza.

God know’s I love Pizza, and it’s more than just something you have when you’re hungover. Say goodbye to Papa Johns and hello to my favourite pizzeria’s in London.

Sodo Pizza 

As the name applies, it’s all about the sourdough at Sodo Pizza. They’ve got three branches – Upper Clapton, Hoxton and now Walthamstow. Their dough is fermented for around 18 hours and then blasted at 450°C. The Winter Goat is a winner with tomato, mozzarella, goats cheese, walnuts, caramelised onions and olives, yum.

Pizza Pilgrims 

Pizza Pilgrims set up shop shortly after a pilgrimage to Italy to discover how to make the best pizza. They started out in a van in Soho and have have truly completed the transition from street food vendors to restaurateurs. Expect chewy and soft pizzas – well worth the pilgrimage to any of their branches.

Pizza East 

SoHo House’s pizza branch, Pizza East, started on Shoreditch High Street and has now been rolled out to Kentish Town and Portobello. They serve up rustic pizza’s made from seasonal ingredients with ciabatta-style dough with a generous crust.

Franco Manca

You can thank Franco Manca for bringing the sourdough pizza revolution to London. The menu is focused on six pizzas plus a changing specials board. At around £6 a pizza and £3 a beer, you’ll marvel at how small your bill is.

Zia Lucia 

Hidden in Holloway, Zia Lucia is a local gem. Their pizzas are served on 48-hour slow-fermented sourdoughs and their bases come in four varieties: vegetable charcoal, wholemeal, gluten-free, and traditional. I’ve never come across a pizzeria where I could actually choose the type of dough, it’s incredibly refreshing.

Yard Sale Pizza 

Yard Sale Pizza have two shops in Clapton and Finsbury Park and this place is primarily for take-away. I adore their pizza with butternut squash, goats cheese, rocket and honey drizzle. Don’t forgot about the dips, their garlic & herb has nothing on Dominoes.

Homeslice 

Beer and pizza? Hell Yeah. Well that’s exactly what the guy’s at Homeslice thought back in 2011 when they did they’re first event at London Fields Brewery. They do massive portions with inventive flavours, my advice is to share one between two, with different toppings on each half. Make sure to get the aubergine, cauliflower cheese, spinach and harissa pizza.

5 Ways to Enjoy Toast; The Polish Bakery

Last week I received the most incredible delivery of breads and cakes from The Polish Bakery. They’re known for their Sourdough breads which are all completely additive and preservative free. I’m a firm believer that bread should be a part of your diet and with healthy breads like these, there’s no need to cut carbs.

They’ve recently launched a new range of chia seed breads which are all high in fibre and protein, which helps you stay fuller for longer. I always start my day with a piece of toast (or two) and here are some ways to enjoy it:

Bruschetta

Brush a bit of olive oil on the toast and top with chopped cherry tomatoes. It’s also nice with a splash of lemon juice, garlic and rocket.

Avocado and Smoked Salmon

This is by far my favourite way to enjoy toast. I mash the avocado with a little lime juice, olive oil, salt and pepper. Spread it on the toast and top with smoked salmon. For me, it’s the perfect breakfast.

Cream Cheese and Cucumber

Perfect if you’re looking for a quick, simple lunch

Eggs and Mushrooms

If you have a little more time in the morning this recipe is perfect. I simply cook the mushrooms in a little butter and garlic. I prefer my eggs fried as I love crispy whites.

Peanut Butter and Banana

If you want something a little sweet in the morning, I’d recommend this. I’m obsessed with Pip & Nut’s Peanut Butter at the moment. Simply spread your nut butter on the toast, top with banana and sprinkle with cinnamon.
